April 30, 2017, 7:00 PM: Journeys: From Darkness to Light, Gindi Auditorium

On April 30th, 2017, the Los Angeles Jewish Symphony will present a concert full of celebration and hope, entitled Journeys: From Darkness to Light. Every work on the program reflects the theme: movement from the nadir of adversity into a joyful place of freedom and light. The concert date is especially appropriate, as it falls between Yom Hashoah, Holocaust Remembrance Day, and Yom Ha’atzmaut, the anniversary of the Declaration of Independence of Israel. The program includes William Hilsley's Seasons, which traces the journey of a prisoner of war from internment to freedom; and the US Premiere of Anna Drubich's Kaddish, which was given its World Premiere last year in Kiev as part of the 75th anniversary commemoration of the infamous massacres at Babi-Yar.
